Vinyl and VC-VA Resins

There are various VC-VA resins, or Vinyl Chlorice, Vinyl Acetate resins on the market. Solbin is the market name for a copolymer resin prepared from vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, and other materials. This VC-VA resin dissolves in organic solvents, it forms an odorless, tasteless and transparent film, is resistant to chemicals and salt water, is fire retardant and even self-extinguishing, among other properties. Another VC-VA resin is Vinyblan, which is a water based application, as opposed the Silbin, a solvent based application. Vinyblan is a vinyl chloride copolymerized resin. It’s a copolymer composed of vinyl chloride with acrylic acid ester and vinyl acetate. This vinyl chloride copolymer is sure to create added value to any product. It is low VOC, making it environmentally friendly, and has high level resistance properties. It can be used as a PVC leather lamination and has highly rated pigment dispersion.

Other Vinyl Chloride Copolymers

Other performance enhancing vinyl chloride copolymers are sold under the brand names of Chaline and Olfine, and each have distinctive qualities and industry uses. Chaline is a hybrid resin, consisting of silicone and acrylic. It has excellent sliding effectiveness as well as effectiveness against abnormal noses or squeaking noises. The vinyl chloride copolymer Olfine is made of materials with acyetylenic alcohol and acetylene diol. Its applications include metal surface treatment or applications with base elements of reactive synthesis. This vinyl chloride copolymer provides wettability and even anti-foaming effects.

Resins for Printing Inks

Resin is one of the main ingredients in printing ink, with the others being pigments, oils and carriers, and additives. The role of the resins in the ink are to act as a dispersion aid and also to help affix the pigment to the paper. Resin is generally the most expensive ingredient in printing inks and the percentage of resin in the printing ink will help determine the rub off quality of an ink. Not all resins for printing inks are created equal. Ideally, you want chemical stability that enables miscibility with colorants and good pigment dispersion.
