We are looking for a talented candidate to help us develop the next generation of photolithography materials. Shin-Etsu MicroSi is an ISO certified subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemicals in Japan. Our focus is the sale of chemicals and technology for the semiconductor industry. This position is located in Boise, ID.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in photolithography and will have hands-on experience working in a cleanroom with lithography equipment, processing, and metrology. This is a development position so the ability to design experiments, set up and use photolithography equipment to run experiments, to analyze and present the data is essential.
The candidate will be required to interact with internal and external teams that include engineers engaged in materials R&D, semiconductor process development, and process integration. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional teams is necessary.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The responsibilities of this role require the physical ability to safely wear or utilize all required cleanroom apparel and personal protective equipment. This is a customer facing role and requires compliance with customer policies and protocols.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS (performed under minimal supervision) include, but are not limited to:
- Designs and implements tests to evaluate experimental chemicals used in the photolithography process. This includes writing tool recipes and running the lithography tools during experiments.
- Work closely with the customer to schedule tool access and have resources assigned for the evaluation of R&D materials samples.
- Analyzes, interprets, and presents product evaluation data.
- Works closely with internal and external teams to review and evaluate data achieved from completed experiments.
- Leads discussions between customers and internal R&D teams to drive needed material modifications.
- Strict adherence to safety and chemical handling procedures is required.
To fulfill these responsibilities, the Photolithography Engineer is expected to communicate professionally with all stakeholders, including customers, internal departments, and our parent company in Japan, on a regular basis. They must be able to maintain a positive, self-starting attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction while working in a team-oriented environment. An attention to detail and a willingness to take on new tasks are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or other fields relevant to Photolithography is required.
- At least 2 years of hands-on semiconductor process related experience in a semiconductor fab, including cleanroom equipment, lithography equipment, and related metrology is required.
- Coursework or proven experience showing strong statistical analysis skills, including design of experiments and data analysis is required. Experience with JMP or other statistical analysis software is helpful.
- Experience working with EUV materials is preferred.
- Broad understanding of multiple patterning processes, etch process, and material quality is beneficial.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The responsibilities of this role require the physical ability to safely wear or utilize all required cleanroom apparel and personal protective equipment. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are expected. The ability to reach low-lying areas, climb ladders up to 5.0’ in height, balance on platforms, and reach to lift up to 15.0lbs held away from the body is frequently required. Working with chemicals in a semiconductor fab also requires the ability to smell to detect chemicals or chemical reactions, and the ability to recognize and interpret audible and color-coded equipment notification.

Employee will be working within a customer facility. Applicant must be able to qualify for access to the facility.
